Hospira MedNet® Software incorporates drug data and rules usage that are derived from each facility's drug administration information as well as from specific clinical protocols and other sources. Within Hospira MedNet Software, the RxRules component governs the use of the devices on the Hospira MedNet Network.
Hospira MedNet Pharmacy Consulting Services is a component of the Hospira MedNet Software required Integrated Implementation Package. It provides consulting from an expert team of highly motivated and experienced pharmacists. Pharmacy Consultants add value to the implementation process by helping to organize many facets of system setup. This includes facilitating broad input from Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy and the P&T Committee working with you to build a collaborative team, and to incorporate feedback from multiple groups within the organization. This facilitates a collective decision-making process within the institution. The Pharmacy Consultants' experience and expertise in the utilization of Hospira RxRules will expedite and optimize the facility's adoption of Hospira MedNet Software.

In a 6-to-8 week engagement, a consultant from Hospira will work with the hospital to accomplish a variety of goals. Typical efforts can include the following:
- Pharmacy consulting for setup of drug information libraries and rules
- Training on using and maintaining the RxRules medication library application
- Analysis of the initial data and reports plus their interpretation
- Participate in the development of performance enhancements and metrics
- Provide the added value of their experiences gained from other installations
Hospira's team works through on-site visits and regular communications during the course of the engagement.
