The Opticath Central Venous Oximetry Probe monitors central venous oxyhemoglobin saturation continuously when used in conjunction with a previously placed central venous catheter.

This probe utilizes Hospira's exclusive 3-wavelength technology with digital filtration to provide proven performance. This technology may also eliminate the need for clinical updates of hemoglobin/hematocrit values. The Opticath system's light intensity display helps ensure accurate readings and proper probe placement.

  • Works with all existing Hospira SO2 Monitors — Oximetrix 3, Q2 and Q2 Plus
  • Compatible with SO2 modules manufactured by Philips Medical, GE Medical and Spacelabs Medical, eliminating the need for an additional stand-alone monitor
  • May eliminate the need to exchange central venous catheters in order to monitor ScvO2 continuously
  • Permits scalable use of technology and may provide more efficient resource utilization
  • May be used for the following:
    • As a component of early goal directed therapy (EGDT)
    • Rapid continuous assessment of a patient's hemodynamic status
    • Management of ventilation patterns and PEEP adjustment
    • As an indication of changing oxygen transport variables: cardiac output, hemoglobin and oxygen demand
